Invisible Layers, Personal Cityscape

Creative Workshop by THX Architects: Exploring Emotion and Memory in the City

Cities are more than streets, buildings, and skylines, they carry the memories, emotions, and experiences of the people who inhabit them. In “Invisible Layers: Personal Cityscape,” the students from De Montfort University, guided by THX Architects’ co-founders, explored these personal dimensions of urban life.

Through collage, sketching, and writing, each participant reflected on moments, memories, and feelings embedded in the city, expressing experiences that often go unnoticed in everyday life. These individual insights were then brought together into a collective work, revealing the city as a living tapestry of memory, emotion, and connection.

A heartfelt thank you to the students and lecturers for your curiosity, openness, and creativity. Together, we discovered how the city exists not only as a physical space but also as a repository of personal experience, imagination, and collective reflection.
