Moo-ving Reflections
A Workshop by THX Architects and Art Smiley
In a thought-provoking collaboration between THX Architecture and Art Smiley Gallery, a recent workshop delved deeply into themes of justice and innocence through the lenses of film and art. The event commenced with a screening of the poignant Iranian film "Ballad of a White Cow," a narrative that resonates with the Quranic story from Surah Al-Baqara involving a white cow revealing the truth behind an unjust death.
Participants immersed themselves in the film's narrative, reflecting on its themes of wrongful accusation and the quest for justice. Following the screening, Art Smiley Gallery facilitated a unique artistic endeavor: a large cow sculpture provided as a canvas for collaborative painting. This symbolic act allowed participants to collectively imbue the sculpture with vibrant colors, reclaiming and honoring the life that was unjustly taken, mirroring the film's message of seeking truth and restoration.
The painted cow sculpture now stands as a powerful testament to the workshop's message: through art and communal expression, we can amplify narratives of justice and innocence. This interdisciplinary workshop, made possible by the partnership of THX Architecture and Art Smiley Gallery, fostered profound discussions and created a lasting visual representation of the impact of art in exploring and advocating for societal themes.
